SEC Tops Championship Tickets Market

By Jesse Lawrence

Conference titles will be on the line this weekend in college football. Four major conferences will hold their championship games with Bowl Game and College Football Playoff spots on the line. While these implications may put more on the line than usual for these conference title games, the secondary market demand for each game is slightly different for each game.
As usually is the case, the most expensive game on the secondary market will be the SEC Championship Game when the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Missouri Tigers. However, even as it is the most expensive of the four games, it will be the least expensive SEC Championship Game over the past five seasons. According to TiqIQ, the average price for the game is currently $251.46 with a get-in price of $113. It is the first SEC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome since at least 2010 with an average price below $300.
The second most expensive game of the weekend will be the Big Ten Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The current average price for Big Ten Championship Game tickets on TiqIQ is $170.05 with a get-in price of $58. The game will be the Ohio State Buckeyes against the Wisconsin Badgers. The Buckeyes sit just on the cusp of contention for a spot in the College Football Playoffs, but must continue without quarterback J.T. Barrett, who will be out for the rest of the season.
Defending national champions, the Florida State Seminoles, will take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina in the ACC Championship Game.  The current secondary market average for ACC Championship Game tickets is $142.09 with a get-in price of just $32, according to TiqIQ. The Seminoles are undefeated, but with a relatively weak strength of schedule, Florida State could fall out of the playoff picture with a loss to Georgia Tech.
The least expensive game of the four major conference title games will take place on Friday night at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The Pac-12 Championship Game will feature the Oregon Ducks taking on the Arizona Wildcats. The average price for the game is currently $139.60 on the secondary market, with a get-in price of $32. Oregon’s only loss this season came at the beginning of October to Arizona. Oregon also sits in a College Football Playoff spot entering the weekend.
