SB Nation BlogPoll College Football Top 25 Rankings
* I'm not sure if I entirely buy that four SEC teams should be ranked in the top eight, but you have to credit the conference for genius scheduling. The SEC plays conference games earlier than almost anyone else and the teams that get off to good starts immediately vault to the top of the polls. Then they sprinkle in three cupcakes in their nonconference schedule but those almost never get noticed because the narrative has already been set.
* Some of the movement in the polls this week has more to do with repositioning teams by their records than anything else. Now I believe Ohio State belong in the top group of unbeaten teams, even if the Big Ten is having a pretty horrendous season. If the Buckeyes lose, expect a pretty precipitous drop.
* Three new teams crack the rankings this week but the bottom of my ballot will continue to be fluid until a few teams can demonstrate their bona fides. A total of four non-BCS conference teams are now in the standings, headed by Louisiana Tech at No. 20.
* Conference-by-conference tally: SEC (7), Pac-12 (5), Big 12 (3), Big Ten (2), ACC (2), Big East (1), C-USA (1), MWC (1), MAC (1), WAC (1), Independent (1).
