The Guru's BlogPoll Ballot (Week 6)

Another shakeup at the top of the Guru's BlogPoll ballot. Notes below:

* There is no doubt in my mind that Alabama is and should be the top-ranked team. The Tide's comprehensive destruction of Florida was merely the latest evidence of their dominance. Granted, I thought the Gators were vastly overrated to start with, but that should take nothing away from Alabama's performance.

* Oregon has also done enough to warrant its ascension to No. 2. The Ducks overwhelmed Stanford after falling into a 21-3 hole early, outscoring a pretty stout Cardinal team 49-10 after that. They have also destroyed every team on their schedule. Right now, they look like a good bet to run the table through a very competitive Pac-10.

* Nevada, not very much respected by the conventional polls, deserves its ranking in the top 10. The Wolf Pack's annihilation of Cal was their best win, and they're set up for an unbeaten run themselves, with their Nov. 26 showdown with Boise State a potential matchup for a BCS bowl berth and the most serious threat to the Broncos' quest for a spot in the BCS title game.

* Only 18 Division I-A teams remain unbeaten, and 17 are included on this week's ballot, with Northwestern barely missing out. Other teams considered: Wisconsin, Penn State, NC State, Oregon State, South Carolina, Houston and USC.
